ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME:
I am a director of photography and stills photographer with over six years of experience specializing in fashion/editorial, music videos, and commercials. While I started my career shooting stills, I transferred my technical and creative expertise to the pursuit of making moving images to depict a narrative. I started learning the craft of both photography and cinematography by shooting on celluloid, which has been my preferred medium since I first started my career. Before working more frequently as a director of photography and/or as a lead stills photographer, I built up over two years of on-set experience, filling multiple roles, including being a production assistant, photo assistant, best boy grip, key grip, best boy electric, and gaffer.
While working in the G&E department, I've learned how to create quality lighting, which accounts for 70% or more of my final images' visual language. I guide my creative process with the principle that an interest-provoking image relies on the combination of dynamic lighting used to convey particular emotions, the calculated use of color theory, which further drives meaning to the story, and strong composition, which guides the eye to the desired point of focus.
As a director of photography and stills photographer, I've come to understand the importance of having a strong pre-production process. I take pride in having built an extremely strong pre-production process, which allows me to know every aspect of my deliverables before the day of production. I create decks using Milanote that include all project-specific details, including: inspo, production design, location scout media, shotlists, lighting diagrams, budgets, and checklists. Having this information dialed in allows me to relay important information to my crew, which allows everyone to be on the same page, which therefore speeds up our process on the day.
Having a firm understanding of how both large and small sets operate has allowed me to bring a high level of professionalism with me to every set that I work on. When in a position of leadership, such as being the director of photography or lead stills photographer, it's of the utmost importance to me to help steer the crew working beside me in a direction that promotes creativity, good energy, and safety.
Throughout my career, I have worked for various publications, brands, artists, and corporations to create professional-quality visuals that are creatively unique and effective in their unique intents. My unique style is something I aim to bring to each project, tailored to its needs, to help each project stand out and feel exceptional. My technical skills and proficiency in using multiple mediums of visual creation have allowed me to translate impactful concepts into high-quality professional visuals.
